Abu Dhabi Frees 15 Pinoys During Ramadan
Fifteen Filipinos were among 879 prisoners ordered released by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, during Ramadan, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.
“We know some of those who were released because we were able to speak to them during our regular weekly jail visits, and all they wished then is to be able to be with their loved ones again in the Philippines. I am sure they are very grateful for having been given a new opportunity to start again,” Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Grace Relucio Princesa said in a statement as she thanked the host government.
