Abu Dhabi date festival attracts 60,000 visitors

This year’s Liwa Date Festival, which opened on July 20, attracted 60,000 visitors so far.
With 150 booths set up in its souk area, the 12th festival aims to shed light on Emirati heritage and reinforce the UAE’s cultural legacy.
The booths are run by Emirati women from all over the emirate of Abu Dhabi with handicrafts made of date palms.
Taking place in the Western Region, the festival offers a number of activities include cultural competitions and workshops to draw, paint and educate the children about the benefits of the date palm tree.
