Abu Dhabi Authorities to Build 10 Pedestrian Bridges

The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport plans to build 10 pedestrian bridges in the emirate this year.
The bridges are being built to promote safety, reduce road accidents and help children, the elderly and people with disabilities cross roads safely, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.
The department said that it completed infrastructure projects in the emirate last year to improve pedestrian safety. Sixty kilometres of fencing was constructed to protect pedestrians in the emirate, as well as seven pedestrian bridges.
Pedestrian safety was the subject of a three-month Ministry of Interior campaign this year. The Keep Pedestrians Safe campaign was intended to raise awareness about the importance of abiding by traffic lawas and regulations.
