#1 Expo 2020
Without question, Expo 2020 is the most anticipated and most extravagant event for Dubai in 2020. With a total investment of $40 billion for Expo 2020, Dubai is expecting atleast 25 million visitors upto 100 million. The 173 day World Expo begins in October 2020 with a ticket of Dh120 for one-day pass and Dh260 for a three-day pass. #2 Route 2020
Route 2020 is the upcoming Metro line from Dubai Marina upto the Expo site and it connects many of the residential communities such as Discovery Gardens, DIP, Dubai South with the existing Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines. Constructed at a cost of $2.9 billion, the 15km line has 7 new stations, 2 of them underground. With new redesigned trains expected to run on the new line, it might also be extended upto Al Maktoum International Airport in future. Route 2020 is opening in May 2020.
#3 Ain Dubai
Ain Dubai, which means Eye of Dubai in Arabic is opening before the Expo 2020 in October 2020. Ain Dubai will be the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world when it opens. The 210m tall attraction will offer 360-degree views of the Dubai Skyline and is located on Blue Waters Island, an artificial island located just off the Dubai Marina. Ain Dubai features 48 capsules with a total capacity of a whopping 1400 people at any moment, with each of the capsules capable of comfortably seating upto 40 people.
#4 Mohammed Bin Rashid Library
Most anticipated by book lovers in UAE, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is a 66,000 square meter library complex that will feature Children’s Library, International Library, Exhibitions, Auditorium, Cinema and Conference rooms. Expected to be open in August 2020, just before Expo 2020, the library is built using an unique architectural concept of “The Rehl”, the Turkish lectern which carries books. The library will be hosting over 100 cultural as well as intellectual events every year along and includes a permanent art gallery
#5 Museum of the Future
The Museum of the Future is an architectural wonder currently under construction and opening in 2020. It will house a multitude of innovations and brings together researchers, designers, inventors and financiers together to create the future. Museum of the Future comes under the ambit of the Dubai Future Foundation and will allow visitors to explore themes of Smart Cities, health, education and future innovations.
#6 Burj Jumeira
Burj Jumeira is an upcoming super skyscraper located in Al Sufouh, Dubai. The 550 metre tall tower’s design reflects the harmonious ripples of UAE’s desert sand dunes and the flowing oases. With multiple observation decks, Burj Jumeira will offer an astounding 360-degree view of Dubai’s landscape. Scheduled to open in 2023, the skyscraper will be the centerpiece of Downtown Jumeira.
#7 Dubai Creek Tower
With Saudi Arabia constructing the Kingdom Tower (1000m) to be taller than the Burj Khalifa (830m), Dubai is not letting the tallest tower mantle, with its upcoming Dubai Creek Tower (1300m) which will be taller than the Burj Khalifa and the Kingdom Tower. At an estimated cost of $1 billion, the Dubai Creek Tower is expected to be completed by 2021. It houses ten observation decks at the top, and will be supported by cables anchored to the foundation.
#8 Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
Opening in 2022, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will have permanent collections and exhibitions in addition to visiting collections. Located in Sadiyat Island of Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will feature 13000 square metres of gallery space on four levels connected with glass bridges. This is an architectural masterpiece adding to the cultural and architectural glory of Louvre Abu Dhabi and the upcoming Zayed National Museum. It will be the largest Guggenheim Museum in the world, managed by the Guggenheim Foundation in New York.
#9 Zayed National Museum
Zayed National Museum will tell the story of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004) and provide a detailed overview of the natural and human history of the United Arab Emirates. The museum will showcase people living the region from 200,000 years ago until the present. Designed by world renowned architect Lord Norman Foster, it will focus on UAE’s values such as heritage, culture, sustainability, conservation, environment and faith.
#10 Madame Tussauds
World famous warwork museum – Madame Tussauds is coming to Dubai’s Bluewaters Island in 2020. It is expected the showcase famous people from the region and the world.
