Wednesdays are the most dangerous day on UAE roads, while Sundays are the safest, according to Ramadan Claims and Accidents Analysis Report
Accidents are most likely to happen between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, with the highest claim rate of 16.1%
The report was conducted by RoadSafetyUAE, Gargash Insurance Brokers and QIC Insured
The report, which was a cumulation of 1845 claims during Ramadan 2016, showed average claims at 3.9% on Wednesdays and 2.7% on Sundays
The average claims for the other days were – Monday at 3.3%, Tuesday at 3.2%, Thursday at 3.7%, Friday at 3.4% and Saturday at 3.8%
The claims rates during the hours of the day are – 2.9% from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 6.7% between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, 16.1% from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 14.6% between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, 14.9% from 11:00AM to 12:00 PM, 11.4% between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, 11.6% from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 8.5% between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, 6.1% from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM and 7.2% in general
By nationality, Indians have the highest amount of claims at 39%, followed by Pakistanis at 15%, Emiratis at 11%, Egyptians at 7%, Jordanians at 4%, and other nationals account for 25%
Accidents tend to be higher during Ramadan because of fasting and dehydration, which affects the concentration and driving abilities of people on the road
People who are above the age of 40 are the most likely to get into such accidents and are therefore warned to be more careful during such times
