- Mushrif Park in Dubai has a ‘smart gate’, through which the entry fee can be paid using a Nol card
- The gate, which was inaugurated on 24th May, 2017, identifies each person using their card as a ticket, or through their mobile phone
- The Smart Gateway project, initiated in June 2016, will be introduced by July 2017 in three other parks in Dubai – Zabeel Park, Mamzar Park and Creek Park
- Silver, Blue, and Gold Nol cards, as well as other special editions of the card, can all be used at the smart gate
- Mushrif Park is one of the oldest parks in Dubai, inaugurated in 1980 and majorly revamped in 1989, to become one of the most loved parks in the city
- The Nol card is an electronic card that is used for ticketing on public transport in Dubai, including the metro, bus and tram
- Entry fee is charged at AED 10 per car at Mushrif Park, and the charge for swimming is AED 10 for adults and AED 5 for children
- The initiative of the smart gate is a collaboration between Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
- The idea behind the smart gates is to regulate and have control over all parks in Dubai, even during peak times like holidays, weekends and emergencies
