- Located at the intersection of 1st and 2nd street in Abu Dhabi, 3.3 hectares of public space will serve as a place for reflecting on and celebrating UAE’s history and heritage
- Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the first President of the United Arab Emirates, a post which he held for nearly 33 years
- Current UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed’ in the country
- 2018 marks the 100th birthday of the late founding father of UAE, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
- Sheikh Zayed was renowned for his dedication to the UAE and its people, promoting the values of tolerance, co-existence, and equality
- Plans to erect a memorial in honour of Sheikh Zayed in the capital city were confirmed by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in September 2017
