Deaths due to drowning had increased to 30 cases in 2016, from 24 cases in 2015, which made it more imperative to increase safety on beaches, especially at night
Around 60 lifeguards monitor swimmers on weekdays and 84 of them are on watch in the weekends, apart from which red flags are planted to stop people from swimming after hours
