- The opening of Abu Dhabi Airports’ new Midfield Terminal has been pushed back by two years to 2019

- Abu Dhabi International Airport is expected to have passenger capacity of 45 million per year when the Midfield Terminal opens
- The Midfield Terminal plans to accommodate up to 30 million passengers a year when it opens
- The 700000 sqm Midfield Terminal has a curved roof that appears to float across 18 steel arches and can be viewed from 1.5 km away
- The construction of the Midfield Terminal is being handled by a consortium of Turkey’s TAV Insaat, Athens’s Consolidated Contractors Company and Dubai’s Arabtec
- The USD 2.94-billion Midfield Terminal was originally scheduled to open in September 2017
