- Abu Dhabi Ports has announced that it will host a 327km ultramarathon in honour of the UAE’s late founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
- To support the Rahma Cancer Patient Care Society, the Rahma Run will cross through three major ports in Abu Dhabi – Fujairah Terminal, Khalifa Port and Zayed Port
- Dr Khaled Al Suwaidi will be leading the marathon on 3rd February, making him the first Emirati to run from the UAE’s east coast to west coast
- When the announcement for the marathon was made, Abu Dhabi Ports employees joined Dr Al Suwaidi in a 2km ‘fun run’ to show their support for the cause
- Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the first President of the United Arab Emirates, a post which he held for nearly 33 years
- Current UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed’ in the country
- 2018 marks the 100th birthday of the late founding father of UAE, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
- Sheikh Zayed was renowned for his dedication to the UAE and its people, promoting the values of tolerance, co-existence, and equality
- UAE has pledged to dedicate all 365 days of 2018 to honour the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as part of the Year of Zayed
