- Hyperloop will be globally premiered for the first time today (22nd February 2018) at City Walk 2, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
- The public pod roll-out is part of a new exhibit to mark UAE Innovation Month, giving visitors a glimpse of the revolutionary transport system in Dubai
- RTA confirmed that the project has advanced to the stage where the agency has identified preliminary Hyperloop routes across the emirate and, potentially, beyond
- RTA said it will ”unveil the initial design of the Hyperloop, which will be exhibited for the first time in the world, in collaboration with Virgin Hyperloop One”
- Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is the government entity that is responsible for developing and maintaining all transport-related infrastructure in Dubai
- Hyperloop is a subsonic commuter tubes system capable of shuttling passengers in a travel pod from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 12 minutes at theoretical speeds of up to 1200km/h
- The idea behind Hyperloop was to develop a high speed, intercity tube train with a top speed of 1300 kmph, and the ability to carry around 15 million passengers
- Hyperloop One is an American company based in California, founded in 2014 by Shervin Pishevar and Brogan BamBrogan
- At the end of 2017, Hyperloop One was renamed to Virgin Hyperloop One, following Richard Branson’s (founder of Virgin Group) ascension as Chairman (non-executive)
