Procedure to use E-Gate Card (Emirates ID) in UAE Airports
1. Insert your UAE Emirates ID into the E-Gate system
2. The system will ask you to present a specific finger on the fingerprint reader
3. Press the finger on the finger print reader.
4. The gate will unlock. Walk through the E-Gate counter one person at a time.
Editor’s note: Since the fingerprint of minors are not captured in the Emirates ID card, minors cannot use the E-Gate and need to pass through the normal immigration counters. It is generally advisable for families to stick together with kids and pass through the immigration counters. The queues at normal immigration counters are also expected to reduce when more and more people start using the E-Gate counters. It should also be noted that travelers using E-Gate will not get a physical entry stamp on their passports, which is actually not mandatory since all passport records are now held electronically.
