Good news for visa violators as UAE plans amnesty for them

Violators to be given the opportunity to leave the country for good without paying the fine, or can pay the amount and continue residing in the nation
The general amnesty for foreign violators have been announced by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC)
The amnesty is to be launched in a few weeks’ time and will be dubbed as “Protect Yourself via Rectifying Your Status”
The new rule also has been approved to exempt all entry fees for the first 48 hours for transit passengers
Individuals who have entered the UAE illegally will be given the chance to leave the country with a ‘No Entry Stamp’ on their passports for two years, if they can provide a valid return ticket
Transit visa can be extended up to 96 hours maximum for a fee of AED 50
For job seekers who wish to stay in the country after overstaying their visa, a new 6-month visa shall be introduced
The process is aimed to simplify and ease the financial burdens of the individuals who wish to renew or adjust their visas
According to the Ministry of Interior, Kuwait had announced earlier in January a general amnesty to help benefit close to 130,000 illegal residents
