Dubai’s Global Village will remain open till 2AM on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2016, organisers have announced. The venue will also see the “most exciting firework display ever seen” to usher in the New Year.
The fireworks will begin after the countdown to the New Year takes place at the big wheel of Fantasy Island. In addition to the midnight fireworks, the park will also be hosting musical fireworks display at the Dancing Fountain.
Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram will perform on 30 December, setting the tone for the New Year weekend. This will be followed by stunt shows, a special edition version of the City Jam show, Movies Live and Park Life, Globo shows for kids, among other shows. These are the events to watch out for:
> Nancy Ajram’s Concert
Popular Lebanese superstar, Nancy Ajram is scheduled to perform on 30 December at 9PM on Friday evening. Ajram will be performing some of her most popular numbers for the special weekend celebrations.
> Circus Show
On 31 December, the evening will begin with the Circus Show on the main cultural stage – recreating a real-life circus environment on stage, the show runs across a narrative that includes a ring master, clowns and acrobats, men on stilts, jugglers and dancers dressed in multiple fun costumes.

At 6PM, you can enter the realm of a world of cinema as Movies Live show will take you through a journey of cinema across different genres including action, sci-fi and Bollywood. The staged show begins with the introduction of the ‘director’ who takes the audience through a cinematic experience scene after scene and includes stunning visual effects including a 3D revolving stage! > Speed. Chase. Action!
A stunt show at 7:45PM will take place at a specially created stunt arena at Global Village. With a seating capacity of 1,000 people, the high octane show will have the audience sitting on the edge of their seats with the fast paced stunts and flame effects.
> DJ Nawaf
The party ambience of New Year’s eve will finally begin with DJ Nawaf taking over the main cultural stage at 10:30PM who will play a number of hit numbers to keep the audience thrilled until they bring in the New Year. One of the highlights of this segment of the evening will include the performance by the City Jam dancers who will perform a specially created version of their highly popular show along with DJ Nawaf’s music, capturing the party atmosphere among the guests.
