- UAE Government has taken measures to cut processing time of issuing residency permits for private sector employees by 50%
- The move to issue residence permits faster is part of the world’s first government accelerators, a new approach that will accelerate the achievement of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021
- Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative is a collaboration between the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Health and Prevention, and Human Resources and Emiratisation and Emirates Identity Authority
- UAE’s Ministry of Health has established a happiness station at the Ajman Preventive Medicine Centre as the first step to streamlining the process of issuing residency permits
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched a 7-year UAE National Agenda, leading to the UAE Vision 2021
- The UAE National Agenda includes a set of national indicators in the sectors of education, healthcare, economy, police and security, housing, infrastructure and government services
- The UAE National Agenda was developed by over 300 officials from 90 federal and local government entities – with the aim of making UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021
- A UAE residence permit for a private sector employee has to be sponsored by the employer
- Before July 2017, it would take approximately 2 weeks to get a UAE employment visa
