Emiratization in Abu Dhabi City Municipality hits 87%, target set as 95%

Abu Dhabi Municipality – 30 December 2015:
During 2015, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has achieved Emiratization rate of 87%, covering those posted or non-posted in the organization structure, as well as contracted personnel.
The number of Emirati employees has reached 2058 against to 314 expatriates, totaling 2372 employees. The Emiratization rate in the Municipality’s organizational structure has hit 94%, where the number of Emirati employees in the organizational structure amounts to 2013, with 149 non-Emirati employees, making the total of 2152 employees.
This achievement reflects the municipal system’s keenness to implement the job succession policy, empower Emirati nationals to obtain employment opportunities, and equip them with the proper qualification to enable them assume positions in public institutions in order to achieve Abu Dhabi vision as regards the Emiratization of public sector.
Over the past years, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has been making significant progress in creating employment opportunities for UAE nationals, especially in technical and administrative fields. It has provided new graduates with the proper training and qualification in various fields; which has opened a plethora of opportunities for Emirati job seekers, and raised the Emiratization rates in Abu Dhabi City Municipality to yet higher levels. In the forthcoming period, the Municipality is poised to continue its efforts to achieve the strategic objective of securing 95% of job opportunities for Emiratis, out of the total municipal workforce.
The number of female citizens recruited this year has reached 127 females; and the number of Emirati women in the Municipality’s organizational structure is now 129 females. They assume leading, administrative and technical positions, including 7 in the grade two, 18 grade three, 39 in grade four, 13 grade five, 39 in grade six, and 13 in grade seven.
The Municipality aims at raising the percentage of female employees to 35% out of the total workforce. The number of ladies recruited in the Municipality, be it in posted or non-posted jobs or contracted personnel has reached 732 ladies of whom 31% are Emiratis, while the number of ladies posted in the organization structure is 724 ladies of whom 34% are Emiratis.
Three special needs employees have been recruited this year, bringing the total to 18 special needs employees, out of the target of 45.
The achievements made by the Human Resources Division this year include establishing the Health, Safety and Environment Office, which created 101 new job opportunities.
Pursuant to the resolution No. 101/2005, the Municipality has formed a work team to implement the sub-centers project, which is intended to enhance the role of the Municipality’s external centers, by empowering them to offer the same services offered by the Municipality’s Head Office, in a bid to provide rapid and quality municipal services to all customers.
Under the tutelage of the Department of Municipal Affairs, the organizational structure of all municipalities is being updated in a way that serves the municipal system. The number of external municipal centers has reached 6 centers, namely Abu Dhabi Municipal Centre, Al Wathba Municipal Centre, Al Shahama Municipal Center, Al Bateen Municipal Centre, Musaffah Municipal Center, and Madinat Zayed Municipal Center.
These external municipal centers offer a variety of services including land plots, real estate, investment, spatial data, community services, building & infrastructure permits, and Tawtheeq.
Several public institutions offer services through external municipal centers including the Department of Finance, Pension Fund, Retirement Benefits, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Abu Dhabi Twateen Council, General Authority for Pension and Insurance, Abu Dhabi Authority for Housing, Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Marriage Fund, the Environment Agency, Federal Transport Authority, Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Environment and Water.
