- RTA Dubai is offering its customers the chance to make donations to help improve transportation in developing countries through the Dirham Khair initiative
- Users can make donations when processing transactions relating to renewing vehicles or driving licences or paying fines on the RTA and Drivers & Vehicles apps
- Dirham Khair initiative has been launched in both Arabic and English, and gives customers the option to donate AED 1 at the end of a transaction on the RTA app
- Dirham Khair is one of the seven initiatives under the RTA Foundation launched by the authority to support the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving in the UAE
- Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is the government entity that is responsible for developing and maintaining all transport-related infrastructure in Dubai
- The RTA Foundation was launched by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, in May 2017, as part of UAE’s Year of Giving
- The RTA Foundation supports cultural, educational, volunteering and charitable works in transport systems
- RTA Foundation’s seven initiatives for 2017 are Global Contributions, Charitable STEPS, Training programme, Wheel Chair, Dubai Engage, Dirham of Benevolence and Charity Bridge
- The word ‘khair’ in Arabic means “good” or “benevolent”, and is often used in UAE by charities and wellbeing organisations
