This competition is organised in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Education Council and aims to encourage students to read continuously and promote visits to public libraries in addition to contributing to highlighting the importance of Arabic as an intellectual and cultural tool, thus encouraging the creativity of talented people in the field of reading.
The competition focuses particularly on children’s literature, enriching the literary scene, spreading cultural and societal values among the members of the society, and encouraging children to read.
The first stage is to announce the competition and distribute the forms to the students of the schools and the children of libraries. Two months are given to read as many books as possible.
The second stage is to contact the contestants for the personal interview conducted by the library. The test ensures measurement of fluency and comprehension in reading.
Phase III is the announcement of the winners.
The number of participants in the first cycle in 2014 was 50 participants and the number of winners 10 winners, the second cycle in 2015 saw the number of participants increase to 59 with 20 winners. In the third cycle the number of participants was 135 and 40 winners, and the fourth cycle saw 90 participants and 30 winners.
