Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) named as Government Department
- The Abu Dhabi Education Council has been made a government department, according to a decree issued by President Sheikh Khalifa
- ADEC has be renamed as the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK)
- The decision follows a number of changes concerning the Executive Council of the emirate and other government entities
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said that the authority will continue to enhance confidence in the work of all government agencies and institutions
- The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) was established in accordance with law No. 24 of 2005, issued by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan
- The Abu Dhabi Education Council is responsible for monitoring and regulating educational institutions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is the Chairman of ADEC
- The Director General of ADEC, Dr. Mugheer al Khalili, has administered the organisation since 2005
- Since 2009, ADEC has implemented the New School Model, a project to improve teaching standards in Abu Dhabi
