Abu Dhabi’s Lagoon Beach to be Temporarily Closed
- The Lagoon Beach and the Blue Walk on the Abu Dhabi Corniche will be closed until the end of March 2018 for redevelopment
- The closure starts near Gate One, across from 6th street near the Spinneys intersection, and extends towards the Hiltonia
- Abu Dhabi Municipality had announced in 2013 that it would built a high-end beach club along Lagoon Beach as part of its Corniche expansion
- Plans for the facility include beach access, pools, a health club, a children’s play area and high-end food and beverage outlets
- Abu Dhabi is the capital city and the largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates
- The Lagoon Beach is part of the Abu Dhabi Corniche beachfront, one of the most popular and happening spots within Abu Dhabi
- The Abu Dhabi Corniche forms a sweeping curve on the western side of the main Abu Dhabi island
- The area enclosed by the Abu Dhabi Corniche has been extended over the years using land reclamation
- Abu Dhabi Corniche is undergoing its second phase of expansion, focused near the Lagoon Beach
