- Taxi fares in Abu Dhabi have increased from 1st June, 2017, a month after publication in the Official Gazette
- The base fare for Abu Dhabi taxis has gone up from AED 3.50 to AED 5, between 06:00 AM and 10:00 PM, and it has risen from AED 4 to AED 5.50 at other times
- Charge per kilometre is AED 1.82, which has increased from AED 1.69
- For booking a taxi through the call centre, the new charge is AED 4, up by AED 1 from the previous charge of AED 3
- The Integrated Transport Centre, which oversees the operations of 7,645 taxis in Abu Dhabi, under the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport
- Abu Dhabi taxis can be easily recognised by their uniform silver colour, with a yellow board on the roof that reads ‘Taxi’ in both English and Arabic
- There are a number of taxi options available in Abu Dhabi, including the general taxi for all, ladies taxi, airport taxi and special needs taxi
- The minimum fare to be paid in Abu Dhabi taxis is AED 12, while waiting charge is AED 0.50 per minute
- Abu Dhabi taxis can be flagged down at the roadside, booked by phone through the TransAD hotline (600 535353), or via the Abu Dhabi Taxi app
