Lorries will not be allowed to enter Abu Dhabi city during rush hour in Ramadan, police have said.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police yesterday announced that trucks weighing more than 2.5 tonnes have been prevented from entering the city between 8am and 10am and from 12pm to 4pm to improve traffic flow.
Colonel Jamal Salem Al Amiri, head of Public Relations Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said: “Trucks weighing 2.5 tonnes and above are banned from entering the city during peak hours in order to provide a smooth flow of traffic.”
He urged truck drivers to abide by the new decision.
Police also said that traffic control will be intensified on lorries and reminded drivers of the harsh measures in place against reckless overtaking.
Sudden lane changing and reckless overtaking is a serious offence punishable by a Dhs10,000 fine and the withdrawal of the driving licence for a period of three months.
