- Motorists in the UAE have five more weeks to benefit from a 50% discount in the payment of traffic fines, which is scheduled to end by 1st March 2018
- The decision to introduce the discount on fines was made under the directives of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in celebration of the UAE’s 46th National Day
- Dubai Police have offered various ways to make payments, which can be done through the traffic department, registration centers, or kiosks in all commercial centers
- Fine payments can also be made online, through UAE bank sites and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) centres
- Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces
- Dubai Police is the main regulatory authority in the emirate, with a force of 15000 officers, functioning for over 60 years in Dubai
- Motorists in Abu Dhabi can pay off their traffic fines and for confiscated vehicles that were recorded between 1st August 2016 and 1st December 2017
- Dubai Police announced that traffic fines registered between 1st January 2017 to 2nd December 2017 are eligible for a 50% discount
- In the Northern Emirates, police announced the reduction will be applicable to fines issued before 2nd December 2017
